This tiny tot was the first Bornean orangutan (Pongo pygmaeus), who was born in zoo in Hungary.
The tiny animal was born on 15th March in 2013, between 09.00 to 10.00, after 260 days of gestation in the Indonesian-house of the Green Pyramid.
Sabatini (27) the mother and her partner Guru (26) has been living here since 2010 and, ans with tiny one by now 7 Bornean orangutans live at our zoo.
The first month of the small one - similar to the human baby - filled with eating and sleeping, although at age of 6 months she has already begun to explore the enclosure individually to the delight of our guests. At the age of 1 she has already skillfully navigated among lower ropes, and now at the age of 2 she consumes more and more solid food beside the mother's milk. She spends more and more time on the ropes at higher areas.
Beside Ruti’s parents, she is also cared by the oldest siamang lady in Europe, Finita and she shows a great patience often, when this tiny red devil pulls the old lady's fur.
Now, at the arriving of spring, the orangutan family is going to occupy their outdoor enclosure, so visitors can admire the tiny cub’s first serious independent movements.
As it is her important day, all day long pampering was waiting for her, such as the cake in the morning, and gifts hidden in a cardboard box in the afternoon.
